Who lived in the White House during the Civil War?

This question has bugged me for several days and I cant find the answer to it. Since the Union was divided into the North and Confederacy during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln couldn't have lived there. Did one of the Confederate Leader occupy it, or was it left abandoned.
