Is it okay to wear a long dress to Homecoming?

Any dress is fine for homecoming but I feel like a longer dress like that should be worn for prom. Homecoming dresses for my school are usually about knee length. Turnabout (where girls ask guys) dress are shorter that usually stop at mid-thigh. Then prom dress are the longest and usually touch the bottom of your ankles or even the floor.
